RIM's booming sales spur rivals

The Waterloo, Ontario-based wireless communications company Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) is expected to report an impressive 95% sales growth. Last year's sales touched $590 million for the maker of the popular messaging device Blackberry. Other players, including electronic and software firms, are trying to capitalize on the market created by RIM. Prompted by speculation about a takeover, its stock rose by 4%.
