Reality check for 'Roe'
Article Abstract:
State legislation in South Dakota voted against abortions except to save the life of mother as against high court's decision in 1973, Roe v. Wade, guaranteeing a woman's right to abortion. Views on abortion and pro-life movement are presented. Kissling and Center for American Progress are having a meeting in Washington between old-line true believers and middle-of-the-roaders, which would not reach a consensus, but would at least face important questions on mortality and abortion.

The shot heard round the world
Article Abstract:
The shooting incident when the US vice president, Dick Cheney, accidentally shot a person when on a hunt, draws attention to the unusual nature of his power, whereby he is most powerful vice president in the US history, but is also one of the most secretive and mysterious public officials to hold such a high post. He is perceived to have become less amiable, less open and less willing to conciliate than he was as a younger politician, but can still quietly exert influence.
