Crash highlights safety issue
Article Abstract:
The crash of an experimental, vertical rising/short take-off and landing military aircraft has raised new safety issues that could delay a final Pentagon decision to buy hundreds of the new troop transport. The crash of the MV-22 tilt-rotor Osprey, which flies like an airplane but can only take off and land like a helicopter, killed all 19 Marines on board. The Osprey has had a turbulent history since its conceptualization. It was developed and is manufactured jointly by Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing Co.

Reluctant industry pursues 'smart' guns
Article Abstract:
Gun manufacturers are expected to continue to voluntary provide consumers with safer guns in the future. The trend, the creation of guns that will be safer and less accessible to children, will prosper despite an initial resentment on the part of the gun makers. The creation of a 'smart' gun, a personalized weapon that can only be fired by its authorized user, is expected to be a reality in just a short time.
