Article Abstract:
The ambitious project known as the outback highway of Patrick Hill is described. The project is an infrastructure link, which would reduce 1600 km off the road journey from Perth to Brisbane and will make the Kalgoorlie a major transport hub for the Pilbara, which would save millions of dollars in trans-shipment from Perth.

Many farmers have survived the drought by good management, diversification and adaptability in Australia. Rogan, Edge and Hassall's director further argues that government investment in drought ought to be based on a long-term plan to encourage drought preparedness rather than "disaster".
