Montreal, Quebec-based Seagram Company Ltd., a major beverage and entertainment company, is ranked as the leading transnational firm in the world by the UN Conference on Trade and Development's transnationality-index survey. The transnationality index is based on leading multinational companies' composite ratio of employment, revenues and assets in foreign and domestic markets. The index gauges multinational firms' business activities that take place beyond the country where they are based.
