Sears Canada Inc. launched a test of a funeral insurance package for its 50 plus club members on February 3, 2004, that would cover the costs of everything from cremations to funerals, along with the planning advice. The move provided competition for funeral homes in Canada, which have a virtual lock on the death-arranging business.
