Seize the pay
Article Abstract:
Australian Prime Minister John Howard is considering legislation that would legalize the seizure of assets for large-scale drug dealers based on reasonable doubt. These seizures would be independent of any criminal charges, and would take place if drug dealers could not prove they had acquired the financing for the property with legitimate sources of income. Selling illegal drugs in Australia generates billions of dollars every year, with an estimated $3.5 bil laundered.
