Sprint begins network revamp

Nortel Networks Corp. is supplying telephone equipment to Sprint Corp. as it overhauls its local telephone services infrastructure. Sprint, which expects to complete the $1.1 billion project by 2015, is using packet technology and Internet protocol standards on the project.

Telus Corp. posted financial losses for the 2002 fourth quarter despite reporting a doubling of its quarterly operating profits. The company posted 139 million Canadian dollars in losses for the period.
