Seth Shostak, is working on ways to find out extraterrestrials with the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrials Intelligence) Institute. The Allen Telescope Array, equivalent to a gigantic radio dish has independent mechanism that enables it to rotate at any point in the sky and is likely to shorten the timeframe of finding an extraterrestrial.

Australia is back in space after an absence of more than thirty years, by introducing the Fed Sat, Federation Satellite that over flies Australia thrice a day and originally slated for orbit in 2001. Fed Sat was constructed near Canberra with its Australian components supplemented by foreign contributions.
