Sun Life taking hit on collapsed reinsurance pool

Toronto, Ont.-based Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada has reported it will take a $150 million after-tax charge related to the troubled U.S. reinsurance sector. Sun Life, whose charge was about $230 million before taxes, was hurt by the collapse of a reinsurance pool operated by Lisle, Ill.-based Unicover Managers Inc.
