Suncor hit could top $1-billion: Sales from company's oil sands upgrader will suffer from production delay after fire

Damage from a massive fire in January 2005, will knock out half of Suncor Energy Inc.'s oil sands production until at least July 2005, draining more than $1 billion in revenue from the Calgary energy company. Suncor will operate at 50 percent of its capacity until it can get the second upgrader running.

U.S. production woes takes bite out of BP's profit

BP PLC reported 3.6 percent profit drop in the third quarter of 2006. The embarrassing pipe leakage problem in Alaska, higher taxes in Britain and drop in production are stated as main reasons for the profit drop.
