Surviving the revolution
Article Abstract:
The downsizing trend in Australia's workforce has threatened job security and employee committmment to a particular company's mission and strategy. Almost 90% of organizations have been significantly restructured since the mid-1980s, yet despite this workplace revolution, employees report being able to cope better in uncertain environments. Employees learn "survivor skills" which allow them to increase labor productivity and remain competitive in a tight labor market.
