Melnuk joins Bracknell 3 weeks after leaving Barrick

Article Abstract:

Electrical and mechanical services company Bracknell Corp of Toronto, Ontario, has named Paul Melnuk as CEO, three weeks after Melnuk resigned as CEO of Barrick Gold Corp on Feb 8, 1999. Melnuk left Barrick after 10 months on the job when the mining company dropped a C$183-million bid for Argentina Gold Corp of Vancouver, British Columbia. Melnuk has been a director of Bracknell since 1994, owning 13,000 of the company's 26.3 million shares.

Former Bracknell head gets $2.5-million sendoff

Article Abstract:

Bracknell Corp. of Toronto has named Paul Melnuk to succeed George Ploder as president and CEO on Mar 3, 1999. Ploder, who retired on that day, received a C$500,000 special bonus in addition to the C$678,000 he earned in 1998 in salary and bonuses. The company will also pay Ploder C$2 million over the next four years as retirement allowance and consulting fee.
