Motor vehicles represent the single, largest source of air pollution in the US and their toxic emissions are especially dangerous to children, senior citizens and those who reside in heavily trafficked urban areas. State and local vehicle test and repair programs are designed to ensure that cars stay clean and dirty vehicles are promptly and properly repaired. These programs will lead to considerable reductions in smog- causing pollution and cancer-causing toxic air pollutants.

Carmakers vie for Formula One racing glamour

Article Abstract:

Major automakers are intensifying their presence in Formula One racing, which will return to the US in Sep 2000. However, the race's appeal to US fans is still to be seen, even though motor racing is the most-attended sports event in the country. Ford's Torrey Galida trusts in the success of marketing efforts in the race, even if it is not totally successful in the US because the global exposure remains worthy of investments.

Concept vehicles now grounded in reality

Article Abstract:

Concept cars that will debut in 2000 motor shows such as the Los Angeles exhibition and the North American International Auto Show feature forward styles, ideas and gadgets meant for eventual production. These concept vehicles include the Ford Equator, Chevrolet SSR, Chrysler 300 Hemi C and Chevrolet Avalanche. Ford 24.7, Infiniti XVL and Lexus Sport Coupe will also be launched at these 2000 auto shows.
