Talisman retains option to cancel Arakis takeover
Article Abstract:
Talisman Energy Inc. has an option to cancel its proposed acquisition of Arakis Energy Corp. of Calgary, Alberta. The company was supposed to buy Arakis in a C$295-million deal, giving it a 25% stake in a Sudanese oil project. However, a recent US bombing in Sudan has given the company grounds to withdraw its offer. Meanwhile, Arakis CEO Raymond Cej that despite the agreement to allow Talisman to cancel the proposed takeover, it does not necessarily mean that Talisman is intending to pull out from the proposed buyout.

TransAlta plans huge asset sale
