Talisman to acquire smaller peer Rigel
Article Abstract:
Talisman Energy Inc will purchase Rigel Energy Corp for $842 million in a stock-and-cash agreement. The acquisition makes Talisman a dominant Western Canadian gas market player and increases its share in the North Sea oil market. Both Calgary-based companies are active oil and gas producers. Rigel's acquisition, Talisman's eighth since 1992, raises total acquisitions to $4.4 billion in seven years.
