Speaking in tongues becomes easier to master
Article Abstract:
Many software packages are available for users who want to improve their English or learn a foreign language. Irvine Interactive offers The Sounds of English, a Hypercard program that offers two modules at $45 each, one for consonants and one for vowels. Both use a digitized voice to help users practice English pronunciation and display the word on the screen. Hyperglot offers Pronunciation Tutors for both French and Spanish that offer native speakers pronouncing words, phrases, vowels and consonants. Users can play the samples as often as they wish. Syracuse Language Systems produces the Playing With Language series that offers packages in Spanish, German, Japanese, French and English designed for children. All communications are in the language being learned and children derive meanings from trial and error and by context. Games teach children words for animals, colors and other common objects.
