Templeton plans segregated funds
Article Abstract:
Templeton Management Ltd. of Toronto plans to launch segregated funds by September 1998. Segregated funds are like mutual funds except they offer a guarantee of the investor's principal, either on death or maturity in 10 years. Segregated funds also offer protection from creditors in certain circumstances and an exemption from probate when a beneficiary is chosen. Templeton President and CEO Don Reed declared in an interview that its investors will be able to purchase funds that will invest in units of five existing Templeton funds.
