The prosecution and defense teams gave their closing arguments in the OJ Simpson murder trial, each painting a different version of events. Opinion polls show the public is sharply divided as to Simpson's guilt. A majority of whites think he is guilty, while most blacks think he is innocent.

Bernardo's story: raised in suburbia, the defendant saw his ambitions turn to dust

Bernardo, who is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering two teenage girls, was raised in a middle-class neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario. In 1990, he was fired from his job as an accountant and later declared bankruptcy. His father was with convicted of assaulting a woman in 1993.
