Article Abstract:
High-speed rail (HSR) may be the solution to America's fast approaching traffic problem, as populations and fuel costs soar. The Clinton administration has proposed spending $140 million dollars on HSR in FY 1994, and the Association of American Railroads and some aviation leaders, both longtime foes of HSR, have expressed interest in this technology. The cost of fuel and recent resistance to expanding airports and freeways bodes well for HSR's future use. The costs would be huge, and the use of government-financing incentives would be needed to promote growth, but many believe that HSR can eventually be self-supporting. Opposition to HSR comes mainly from airline executives.

Article Abstract:
Eating disorders such as bulimianervosa, anorexia nervosa and compulsive overeating are prevalent disorders in the US which have affected approximately eight million Americans and are likely to affect millions more. However, despite the attention given by the media to such disorders, information about their causes and treatment remains inadequate. But there is reason to believe that cultural pressure and conditioning are some of the factors which contribute to the prevalence of the disease since it affects every member of society and is more common among female athletes, dancers, actresses and fashion models.

Article Abstract:
Alzheimer's disease is a dreaded illness of old people. In the US alone, there are four million afflicted individuals. Identified by a German doctor named Alois Alzheimer in 1906, the disease has baffled medical experts and its causes have been the subject of much conjecture. Some think that aluminum causes symptoms. Others believe that head injuries could lead to the disease. Other possible origins floated around include chemical imbalance in the brain and the presence of a virus at birth.
