Derryn Hinch was dismissed from his from his job as at Radio 3AW for revealing that television personality Graham Kennedy died of AIDS, though the blood test of Kennedy revealed that he was HIV-free. Hinch assured that his claims regarding Kennedy had nothing to do with increasing ratings for his programs, as he believed that it had affected his ratings negatively.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is adjudicating many property-related disputes where deceptive or misleading conduct among property spruikers is alleged. The ACCC called on the federal government to pass new laws that would force property spruikers to provide financial compensation to their victims.
