The power of POGs: a game based on milk caps has become a children's favorite

POGs is game played with cardboard discs that resemble old-fashioned milk bottle caps. The game was created by a Hawaiian teacher in 1991, and based on a game she played as a youth. It is very popular with US and Canadian children and has spawned a $141 million industry.

Roy Romanow was re-elected premier of Saskatchewan with a dominant victory, as his New Democratic Party won 42 of the legislature's 58 seats. Romanow is credited with bringing the province's budget deficit under control. Tories had recently won in Manitoba and Ontario.
