Tokyo terror: a sect comes under suspicion after a gas attack kills 10

A Mar 1995 Sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway system has focussed attention on Shoko Asahara's Aum Shinri Kyo religious sect. A police raid on one of the sect's facilities produced evidence that the group had substantial quantities of the ingredients used in the manufacture of Sarin.

Ian Spiro was a suspect in the Nov 1992 deaths of his wife and children. Spiro died shortly after his family, and suspicions that the killings might be retribution from Middle Eastern groups with whom Spiro once worked with are addressed.
