An extraordinary gum tree around Wilpena has gained a special place all on its own and symbolizes something profound, inspiring and hope-filled for millions of people around the world. Harold Cazneaux, an Australian photographer captured the red gum tree, which showed the spirit that was not only uniquely Australian, but also universal in its appeal that it was called The Spirit of Endurance and later named as the Cazneaux Tree
