Two in a Row: Market Posts Another Gain For a Quarter
Article Abstract:
For the first time since its fall in early 2000, the U.S. stock market made gains for two consecutive quarters. Experts attribute the reversal to improved corporate earnings, growth in capital spending and sustained consumer spending. Information technology stocks led the the gains, with the S. & P. 500 up 13.2 percent, the Nasdaq up 33.8 percent and the Dow up 11.2 percent for the year so far. Experts do not think it likely that the fourth quarter could erase those gains.
