Tyco Intn'l buys stake in Worldwide Fiber
Article Abstract:
Worldwide Fiber Inc of Vancouver, British Columba, has sold $345-million worth of stake to sub-marine fiber-optic cablemaker Tyco International Ltd and three other minority intitutional investors in a private placement of its securities. The proceeds will be used to partly finance its $850- million 12,000-km-long Hibernia undersea fiber optic project linking its North American network with Europe. Tyco International's unit Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd was awarded the equipment contract for Hibernia project in July 1999.

BCE selling majority stake in Emergis
Article Abstract:
An important step in focusing the conglomerate's attention on its key asset is that BCE Inc. is selling off its majority stake in BCE Emergis Inc. for about $356-million. Emergis, an electronic-commerce software company was one of several investment Montreal-based BCE made in late 1990s when the conglomerate was trying to diversify.
