Article Abstract:
By 1999, an estimated record 31.1% of Australian schoolchildren will be enrolled in private schools, as middle- and low-income parents flock to the fast-growing numbers of independent, non-parochial schools. Some public education advocates fear that New South Wales education director-general Ken Boston may be correct in forecasting that the public system may become 'the schooling of last resort' in Australia.

Mum's the hard word
Article Abstract:
Many women who choose to become mothers at an older age often do not realise the social and psychological implications of being a middle aged woman rearing small children at home. For other women, the joy of motherhood at a more mature age means the ability to focus better on the children rather than on a growing career.
