Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp. has acquired San Jose, Calif.-based Alteon Websystems Inc. for approximately $7.3 billion. The purchase of Alteon, which is a data communications equipment maker, will allow Nortel to expand in the Internet-based data center sector.

PixStream settles suit with Unique Broadband
