The stockmarket is in the grip of an unprecedented uranium boom and more and more companies, indicated by the increasing number of Initial Public Offering from outfits such as Marathon Resources and Southern Gold, are trying to cash in on a rise in uranium prices. Due to the rise in prices of Uranium, the specialized stocks in the area such as Paladin Resources and Summit Resources, have recorded gains and in some cases multiplying their value several times.

The United State's decision to export uranium to India despite the fact that Delhi is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is argued by Australia as undermining nuclear rules. India is not subject to NPT strictures, as it did not sign the NPT, however, its deliberate decision to become a rogue nuclear weapons state is highly significant in terms of the current nuclear debate.
