Urban renewal
Article Abstract:
The US federal government laid the foundation for 'urban renewal' with the Housing Act 1949, which funded large-scale clearances of 'blighted' urban areas to promote the goals of a decent home and suitable environment for every American. The 'urban renewal' policies aimed at ridding central cities of supposedly blighted residential and commercial neighborhoods and replacing them with better housing and more attractive commercial centers.
