Vengold faces criticism for forgiving loans to executives
Article Abstract:
Vengold Inc, a mining company, is being criticized by an analyst at one of the firm's biggest US shareholders for forgiving around 75% of the relocation loans to its president, Ian Telfer, and three other company officials. A total C$1.1-million in bonuses were paid by Vengold in 1998 to Telfer, chief financial officer Glenn Ives, VP Robert Gallagher and VP Brian Kirwin. The analyst said the bonuses given to the executives are inappropriate because of the firm's current financial status.
