Article Abstract:
Most of the more than 42,000 Canadians who perished in the Second World War had already been lost by Apr 1945, but thousands of casualties occurred in the run-up to German surrender on May 8, 1945. Adolph Hitler's command that the German Army should fight rather than retreat hastened the war's end.
