Victory is no panacea
Article Abstract:
The military vic tory in Iraq does not seem likely to bring about economic revival, even if oil prices fall and uncertainty diminishes. The International Monetary Fund now predicts 2.2% grow th in the US economy in 2003, which is less than in 2002, and which would lead to 6.2% unemployment. The European Union's economy will grow only 1.3% and Japan's will grow just 0.8%. Economic problems such as the crash in stock prices, surplus capacity in many industries, and heavy debt loads facing consumers and businesses will remain, and will hinder economic growth.

It's policies, not people
Article Abstract:
The government of the United States plans to concentrate on basic domestic policies of budget, taxes, health care, energy policy and immigration for reinvigorating the White House. It is believed that projecting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid costs could expand the federal budget by 30 percent to 40 cent by 2030 and hence to limit these huge increases, eligibility ages for Social Security and Medicare should be raised.
