Video games: Saying less?

Some experts believe the rising use of video games, television, and other electronic media is affecting national literacy and problem-solving abilities among young Americans. However, a Federation of American Scientists report has called on the US government to research the education and workforce-training potential of video games, and urged the educators to develop educational materials around content-rich games and develop tests to find out what students learn in games.

Article Abstract:
Libraries in the US are increasingly offering video gaming events to children and teenagers, and younger librarians are trying to persuade colleagues that video games are a legitimate part of a library's mission. A task force of the Young Adult Library Services Association is examining whether to recommend video games for teens alongside its annual list of recommended books.
