Workplace relations minister Peter Reith, Patrick chairman Chris Corrigan and Maritime Union of Australia national secretary John Coombs must work together to solve the Australian waterfront problems. Government grants of several hundred million dollars in reparations for laborers who will lose their jobs must be approved, and current union workers should work side-by-side with non-union workers.
