House to back China trade

The Permanent Normal Trade Relations for Beijing is nearing its passage as members of the US House of Representatives prepare to cast their votes. The bill ensures normalized trade with China which will provide american goods, services and investment new access to the country's markets after it gains entry into the World Trade Organization. It is projected that exports would more than double to as high as $27 billion in 2005 from $13 billion in 1999.

Bush targets imports of steel
Article Abstract:
The Bush administration is planning to laucnh a complaint against foreign steel producers in an effort to slash imports and buy time for the ailing American steel industry to restructure. Pres Bush has announced the administration's intention of filing a steel case with the US International Trade Commission. The commission must determine whether US steelmakers are hurt by a flood of low-priced imports from Ukraine, South Korea, Brazil, Russia, Japan and other countries.
