The National Basketball Assn (NBA) will roll out a new TV spot featuring Commissioner David Stearn spoofing his role in the annual NBA draft. The spot, showing Stern drafting an elderly woman for the Philadelphia 76ers, aims to raise audience awareness over the league's 2001 playoffs. The NBA has been struggling with ratings and attendance the whole season long. The league is spending $100 million for its playoff marketing effort, which includes giving fans the chance to meet Shaquille O'Neal.
