Why Onex is chasing ambulances in the United States

Toronto-based Onex Corp. has agreed to buy EmCare Inc., an emergency room (ER) doctor outsourcing company, and American Medical Response Inc., which runs a fleet of ambulances and wheelchair vans for municipalities and government agencies. Physician-outsourcing company, which supplies emergency room doctors to hospitals, hires and pays the doctors, manage their hours, buys malpractice insurance and bills patients directly for their work.

EMI-Time Warner a loud merger

Industry analysts said that the proposed $20 billion merger between London, Eng.-based EMI Group PLC and New York, NY-based Time Warner Inc. would create the largest music company in Canada. Toronto, Ont.-based Capitol Records-EMI of Canada Ltd. is the Canadian division of EMI Group.
