Article Abstract:
US Pres George Bush and Arkansas Gov Bill Clinton express their views on energy security, energy industry restructuring, global climate change and nuclear waste. Pres Bush believes that incentives awarded to domestic and foreign energy suppliers will ensure energy security, while Gov Clinton advocates domestic conservation incentives and energy efficiency improvement in federal agencies. Both Pres Bush's and Gov Clinton's National Energy Strategy shall involve legislation that shall reform the electric power industry. Both also plan to limit CO2 emissions through new technology.

The Democratic and Republican presidential candidates in the 1996 election present their views on issues affecting the shareholder-owned electric utilities. These include industry restructuring, environmental programs, regulations, and energy research. While both candidates support restructuring, Bob Dole is committed regulatory reform, a balanced budget and grassroots solutions to environmental problems.
