GERMANY: SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES R&D BY HENKEL

A new company called Sustech GmbH & Co KG is to become operative at the beginning of July <2000>. It was set by big German Dusseldorf-based chemicals group Henkel KGaA and the Darmstadt Polytechnic. Henkel and the German Ministry of Education and Research are providing about DM 25mn for the first five years. Moreover, Henkel is to invest EUR 25mn in a research centre it is setting up together with Kinki University in Osaka

The platform, which claims to be independent and neutral, is financed with membership fees rather than commissions on deals concluded.

GERMANY: CHEMETALL POLYMER ADDITIVES SOLD
Article Abstract:
The private equity fund BVP Europe L.P. has acquired the polymer additives business of Chemetall GmbH of Frankfurt. The operations generated a turnover of EUR 113mn last financial year and involve mainly the production of PVC stabilisers and lead oxides by the Chemson group in Austria, the UK, Australia and Brazil.
