With effect from 1 January 1999, German Hoyer GmbH and Norwegian Odfjell ASA of Bergen will found a joint venture for the worldwide use and marketing of tank containers. Odfjell is a leading parcel tank operator. The company has 59 ships and operates tank depots for chemical products. Hoyer will bring its overseas tank container business into the joint venture, which, with a tank container fleet of 2,600, is to generate an annual turnover of US$ 50mn. *

Rail4chem GmbH, the transport joint venture of BASF AG, Hoyer GmbH, Bertschi AG and VTG-Lehnkering, has agreed upon cooperation with Hoyer Railserv GmbH in rail transport. The two companies are to cooperate in the purchasing of equipment and services, drawing up transport concepts and bids, and in emergency services.
