Three new cyclopentanoid monoterpenes from Picrorhiza scrophulariiflora
Article Abstract:
The root of the Picrorhiza scrophulariiflora plant is used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of jaundice, dysentry, and others. A study is made that describes the isolation and structural elucidation of three new cyclopentanoid monoterpenes, named piscrocins A, B and C, from the ethanol extracts of these roots.

Kava does not display metabolic toxicity in a homogenous cellular assay
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine whether the presence of drug-metabolizing enzymes would increase kava's toxicity to cells. The method of study and its findings are discussed, which suggests that vitro kava does not appear to be activated to toxic metabolites by enzymes known to be important in metabolic toxicity.
