Article Abstract:

Andreas Papandreou was not, for the most part of his political life, popular with the US administrations because of his sympathy for the Arabs and the Cubans. He was an outspoken Socialist, which was another black mark against him in the US perception. His radical way of thinking irked those of more conservative mind-set, but the welfare of Greece was foremost in his mind and he did whatever it took to improve it. Papandreou was one of the best leaders modern Greek has ever had.

Article Abstract:

The US should strive for a balance between the working class and the wealthy, such as the one which it achieved in the 1940s prior to the enactment of the Taft-Hartley Act which hindered labor organizing. Anti-union legislation have created a gap between employers and workers. A balance in the distribution of wealth between the consuming public and the rich, whose level of consumption is different, will pull up real wages and ensure real economic gains.
