Targeting & reaching the black consumer
Article Abstract:
Prominent US firms such as McDonald's, J.C. Penney's and Levi's have indulged in marketing and advertising their products specifically for sale among black Americans and other minorities. This form of target advertising limits the market for consumer goods, but has the potential to recognize consumer needs of specific groups and efficiently market products for their use. Sears, the third largest retailer in the US, has successfully employed target marketing since the late 1970s.
