Ceasefire or more?
Article Abstract:
An examination of the peace accord signed between the Indonesian government and the Aceh Liberation Movement (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka) in an attempt to ascertain whether the deal will really bring peace to the region of whether it will just provide time for both sides to rearm themselves, regroup and prepare for another round of combat. It is argued that in order to make the treaty work and create a more solid peace in the region, substantive efforts need to be made to develop the economy of the province of Aceh, as well as improving the province's educational and health facilities, restoring law and order, demobilising combatants and restoring to the Acehnese people a sense of justice.

Article Abstract:
The Aceh conflict is reported, which is considered as political, has no military solution. The armed clashes was a result of the lack of progress in controlling the Indonesian Government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM)'s weapons and the movement of the Indonesian military towards a defensive posture.
