Clinton protects Russian 'HEU Deal' assets
Article Abstract:
President Bill Clinton's executive order on June 22 protects Russian's assets related to the HEU agreement from garnishment to outside entities. The United States Enrichment Corporation continues to have financial problems and will close two of its uranium enrichment plants.

Independent panel urges increased threat reduction efforts in Russia

A US Dept of Energy panel co-chaired by Howard Baker and Lloyd Cutler gave Russian nuclear materials security and nonproliferation efforts a grade of 'inadequate'. It called for increased US-Russian cooperation.
