Pharmaceutical regulation in the European Community: barriers to single market integration
Article Abstract:
Conflicting interests are likely to continue hampering the EC's goal of setting up a single market and system of regulation for pharmaceutical medicines among member nations. These interests include the existing national regulatory agencies, international 'Eurogroups,' national groups, individuals, the pharmaceutical industry and consumer groups. National governments' reluctance to compromise the protection of public health is also a major obstacle.

Health accounts and communicative power
Article Abstract:
Donald Light, Ezekiel and Linda Emanuel, and David Frankford all discuss in different ways accountability in the health care system. All of the articles posit the power to demand accountability. However, the absence of first-person account from accountability is a lamentable norm in American medicine. All of the articles show the need for communicative accountability in health care.
