Comparing campaigns
Article Abstract:
The invasion of Suez by Britain and France in 1956 following Egypt's nationalization of the canal was governed by the principles of regime change and pre-emptive self-defense and these same principles apply to the US/British intervention in Iraq that began in 2003. Questions such as the legal justifications for the attacks, intelligence, timing and planning for the day after draw parallels between the two actions even half a century later.
