Cote d'Ivoire: Peace on a precipice

Cote d'Ivoire in Africa was believed to be a stable and a successful economy. But poor governance, bad leadership, racism, xenophobia and other such problems led to a decline in the prosperity of the country and the elections to be held in 2005 are viewed as a matter of grave concern since this crisis could turn into a civil war that would have serious implications for West Africa.

Mozambique is an African country that has placed the civil war behind it and produced strong economic growth, which deserves more than passing praise. The reason behind this is that its President is about to step down in the second orderly power transition since independence.
