Creating devastation and calling it Islam: the war for the Nuba, Sudan
Article Abstract:
This article examines the war in Sudan led by the rebel Sudan People's Liberation Army and the impact it has had on the Nuba people. The author argues the war, which has been erroneously interpreted as a religious war in which Christians are fighting an Islamic government, is really about greed and identity, and the religiously diverse Nuba people have been drawn into the conflict and repressed by the Islamic government.

Seeking sanctions
Article Abstract:
The Security Council adopted a resolution in July 2004 that has given Sudan one month to disarm and arrest leaders of the Janjaweed or possibly face United Nations sanctions. A credible threat of sanctions may be more productive than the hasty enforcement of symbolic measures that could undermine the credibility of the UN.
